Overview
It is always recommended that you back up your data from time to time to keep all your information safe. A good case to back up a customer's phone data is when there is a new Android/iOS version and you want to update to this new release avoiding data loss if something goes wrong. Hereinbelow you will find information about how you can back up and restore phone data on a device with Mobilogy Now.

Backing up Phone Data and Content
Use the Backup option to back up phone book contacts, SMS and MMS messages, emails, audio and video files, pictures, and ringtones from the source device or SIM/USIM card to a USB mass storage device.
Procedure
To back up the phone data and content, you have to execute the following steps:

Select Backup - From the main menu, select Backup.

Connect the source device - Connect the old device to any USB port (use the blue USB 3.0 port for faster transfer speeds). The Connect target device screen appears.

Connect the target device - Connect the USB mass storage device to any USB port (use the blue USB 3.0 port for faster transfer speeds). The Connect source device – Prepare the device screen appears.
Follow the instructions displayed on the Mobilogy Now platform screen and the device screen, and click Continue. The Create backup screen appears.

Select the data to back up - Select the content types you wish to back up. The content data size and transfer times are added to the Transfer size and the Estimated Transfer Time. Each content type on the source device is evaluated by counting the number of items, accumulated size, and estimated transfer time.

Select the source accounts - The Backup contacts screen appears if the source device supports multiple user accounts. Select the accounts you wish to back up and click Continue.
It is not recommended to back up accounts that are synchronized to the cloud.

Reducing the backup size - The Transfer size icon turns red, and the Start button will be disabled if the Transfer size exceeds the target device's free space.
To reduce the size of the transferred files, deselect content types, or take one or more of the following steps:

Select memory types - By default, all the source device memory types (Phone, SIM, and Memory card) are selected. If you wish to omit content from one or more of the memory types or use the source SIM or memory card in the target device, uncheck the appropriate memory icon located beneath the source device image.

Select Phone book - Use the three dots sign displayed in the lower-right corner of the Contacts content button to deselect the accounts you prefer to omit from the transfer.

Select video files limit - Use the three dots sign displayed on the lower-right corner of the Videos content button to change the size limit and omit large video files.

Start backup - Click the Start button to continue. The Create backup screen reappears displaying the status (read, write, done), statistics, and a progress bar for each of the selected content types. The total transfer statistics and progress bar updates as it reads the source memory and writes to the target memory.
When the transfer process is complete, the Source Instructions screen appears. To restore the source device settings into a new device, follow the instructions of the Restoring Phone Data and Content section.
Restoring Phone Data and Content
Use the Restore option to restore phone book contacts, SMS and MMS messages, emails, audio and video files, pictures, and ringtones from a USB mass storage device to the target device or SIM/USIM card.
Procedure
To back up the phone data and content, you have to execute the following steps:

Select Restore - From the main menu, select Restore.

Connect the target device - Connect the old device to any USB port (use the blue USB 3.0 port for faster transfer speeds).

Select the data to restore - Select the content types you wish to restore.

Install content - The Select Content Pack screen is displayed if the version you use supports the AppLoader option, and the Install content after transfer or restore checkbox in the Settings Transfer tab is checked.

Connect the source drive - The Connect source device screen appears. Connect the USB mass storage device to any USB port (use the blue USB 3.0 port for faster transfer speeds) and select the backup folder.
Follow the instructions displayed on the Mobilogy Now application screen and the device screen, and click Continue.

Restore in progress - The Restore content screen reappears displaying the status (read, write, done), statistics, and a progress bar for each of the selected content types. The total transfer statistics and progress bar updates as it reads the source memory and writes to the target memory.

Select the target Phone book - The Select Account screen appears if the target device supports multiple user accounts. Select the account to which you wish to transfer the contacts.
It is recommended to transfer all contacts to the target device account.

Restore device settings - When the restore process is complete, the Target Instructions screen appears. Follow the instructions on the screen to restore the source and target device settings.

When done, the Transfer completed successfully screen appears, displaying statistics about the number of entries that were read and written from the USB mass storage device. Click Finish to end the procedure.
Testing
Whenever the Backup is finished, the Backup Completed screen appears, displaying statistics about the number of entries that were read and written to the USB mass storage device. The same case applies to the "Restore" process.
