Overview
Mobilogy Buyback enables mobile operators and retailers to provide customers with Buyback offers on their old mobile devices. This article will help you to understand how the buyback feature works, and the two customized workflows it offers.
Solution
Prerequisites
- Having access to the device's Software.
- Having the proper feature added to your license.
Buyback can be activated while the customer's device is connected to the Mobilogy Now platform, either for upgrading, transferring personal data to a new device, at the end of a failed diagnostics process, or as a separate service. Buyback offers:
- A quick and simple-to-use Buyback process, leading to a real-time quote from the Buyback vendor’s pricing database;
- The identification of phone specifications such as IMEI, brand, model, OS, and firmware;
- The detection of "Kill Switches", rooted or jailbroken devices to improve quote accuracy and protect margins;
- The Assessment of device functionality through multiple automated hardware tests like touch screen, sensors, buttons, camera, and battery health checks; and
- Buyback offers two customized workflows:
- Automatic Buyback flow - Runs diagnostic testing automatically without any need for user input
- Semi-Automatic Buyback flow - Runs additional tests and requires user input.
The following instructions describe a generic Buyback flow session.
1. Automatic Buyback Flow
With the Automatic Buyback flow, the system obtains information, including the IMEI, brand, model, OS, firmware, as well as the detection of rooted or jailbroken devices. This information is displayed to the user as a report at the end of the process. The information is then transmitted to the Buyback vendor, and a quote is generated and presented to the customer.
Custom integration with the Buyback vendor is required to receive automatic quote capabilities.
Process
Follow the steps below to run the Automatic Buyback flow:
