Overview
You noticed that statistics for the period (of approximately a month) after the kernel upgrade took place are missing.
Information
Based on the Data Retention Intervals, the system will keep full resolutions data only for a certain period.
In the example pictured above, the system will keep the full resolution data for 31 days after which it will be deleted. The Aggregate process should store the data for every 15 min and 1 hour for 200 days on the system.
If this process is not running, statistics data in full resolution for the upgrade period will be removed after 31 days before getting aggregated into longer time intervals, i.e. 15-min or Hourly, to be stored in stv_db_archive database for longer a longer period (200 days). That explains the gap you see in the graphs and unfortunately, we cannot recover the full resolution data that was removed after 31 days.
To avoid this issue during future upgrades, you must ensure all STV processes are properly working after the upgrade via -
- stv_self_test command in the MGR GUI.
- Verification of STV entries in root crontab.
Additionally, as a preventive measure, you can also consider stv_export stream to send statistics to an external server and save it for longer than the current retention period set in STV.
