Overview
You may have a spread filter with the following configuration:
- Message Limit = 15
- Recipient Limit = 3
Based on that, you perform the following test: you send 6 messages using the same originator to 2 different recipients. Then, you send a seventh message to a third recipient. The result is that the seventh message is blocked, but you expected that the messages sent after passing the message and recipient limits were blocked.
Solution
It is recommended to have a new EC Rule and an EC Application if the condition is not present on the existing MOX rules and EC App, as indicated in the FAF Operator Manual, under section 4.11 Spread Filtering:
The Originator Address must be a MSISDN (not Short Code or Alphanumeric).
Note - The EC Rule for FAF and the FAF Chain shall be configured to prevent short code and alphanumeric addresses from being routed to the FAF and analyzed by the Spread Filter.
To solve the issue, follow the configuration steps in Delta Filter Incorrectly Blocking Messages, except for creating the MTOX rule, which is not needed for the spread filter.
Testing
Rerun the test to confirm the application is behaving as expected.
